URSULA SCAVENIUS is a writer based in Copenhagen with the agent Copenhagen Literary Agency. (See Contact). She is a graduate of the Danish Academy of Creative Writing and holds an MA in comparative literature and Italian from the University of Copenhagen. She debuted in 2015 with the short story collection Fjer [Feathers], which won the Bodil and Jørgen Munch-Christensen Prize and was nominated for the Montana Prize for Fiction.
Her second book, The Dolls, was published in January 2020 and is Scavenius’ second book. It consists of four novellas that were well-received by peers and critics alike and was shortlisted for the Edvard P. Prize that same year, as was Feathers in 2015. The Dolls was elected for the Books from Denmark program 2020, by The Danish Art Foundations.
She was granted the art scholarship for 3 years also by the Danish art Foundation 2020. In 2021 her tale Luna seconda from Feather (2015) won a Reumert for best digital theaterpiece, staged by Mille Maria Dalsgaard at Sydhavn theater, and her book The Dolls was selected as an Editor’s Pick on BBC Radio 4’s Open Book, where it was featured in a dedicated segment.
